Initial Question: Has PDP become over embedded and as a result has it lost some of its impact?
After a flurry of activity including the setting up of a University Task Group on Employability, the development of the University PDP website, large scale audits of PDP activity within the University Schools, etc, when there was high visibility and clear focus for the direction of PDP within the university, a change in university strategies has shifted this emphasis. PDP is still considered to be a fundamental principle in terms of developing students as self confident life long learners, but, has less obvious visibility just at the moment.
Research Question: How personal tutors perceive their role in supporting students’ PDP?

I am currently studying for a Doctorate in Professional Studies (Learning and Teaching) at Middlesex University. My title is 'Who or what motivates engagement in PDP? An investigation into human activity systems based around the power and influence of staff in central departments motivating teaching staff to motivate student learning through PDP'. For this work I am using Soft Systems Methodology (SSM). I am expecting to submit in 2009. I am part of an internal Learning Technology and Pedagogic and Research Cluster within a mini-cluster on e-Portfolio research and Research in Coaching and Mentoring Network.
Research Question: Evaluation of PebblePad software in the taught curriculum particularly looking at the impact relating to achievement and progression. What are the features of developmental mentoring that help build staff capability and capacity to support the use of e-PDP?
